Artist's Comments

stock from sxc from ceara: [link]

In which I did not credit her, but credited the site sxc. Note to all stockers out there, credit the artist not the site.

Thanks Ceara! :)

Excuse me, but that photo was taken by ME at sxc.hu. You can see it at [link]

You are NOT permitted to use this picture without notifying and crediting ME.

Remove this photo IMMEDIATELY or credit me appropriately or I will take legal action. While the image is stock, I still retain ownership of the image.

My terms of use for stock are very clear, and very easy to follow. You do not need to ask me for permission beforehand, but you do need to notify me and credit me when you use my stock - and my contact details are very easy to find from my sxc account and it is hardly difficult to put a comment on the photos or send me a message there.
If you do not follow my terms of use, I am well within my rights to take legal action against you.

Don't assume that photographers are idiots who don't look around on the net, or that they don't have friends who do the same things. When people use my work without permission, I tend to eventually find out. Don't do it. Very simple.

It's people like you who make photographers start to pursue their copyrights strongly and not allow people to use their images like stock.
It's not difficult to tell a photographer that you've used their work, especially if they've posted it as stock.

All I asked was that I be notified when my image was used, and credited.
It's really not a lot to ask, so why the hell didn't you do it?

:iconninykinin:
yeh.... you really need to credit *ceara. It's just a simple part of the terms.
There is no need to credit me for it (i'm the model) as all I did was stand there and look pretty.
Ceara however, has gone to allot of trouble taking the images, editing them for hours and posting them for people to use so that they can increase their skills through practice.
I'm certain that she will not continue to be angry at you at if you edit the description and credit her.
Actually, I bet she would fav it. xD

Other than the little 'you must credit her, not the site she is from' rant, well done :3 I really like that little whisk of black there.... it is very elegant. :3

Whoooa sorry ceara. My thing is that I forget where on the site I actually got it, Half the stock I download I don't use, they just sit on my computer, and I wait for some sort of inspiration out of them.

I will credit you immediately, and I want to thank you for takin' the time to lemme know.
:iconchica-x:
Thank you, I honestly mean to credit everyone, but forgetting where it actually came from other then the site, is my downfall, and usually when I browse deviations here, they only credit the sxc.hu site. So when I first started working with stock, I followed suit. Thanks to Ceara, I know better. :)
:iconceara:
Haha.
That's ok, Chica.
Just don't do it again - remember to always credit the actual photographer and not the website. I can only imagine how people on here would feel if you said you got a photo from dA when you used it and didn't say the specific person.
sxc is just an archive, so you need to always credit the original photographer - well, not always. Some sxc photographers don't ask for notification or credit. But you should always check. What I do is save nice stock photos that I see by the website they came from, and then search for the stock photo when I use it. If you save the file by the name it's already called on the site, it's fairly easy to find again. That way I can find out what the terms of use are - I do a lot of photomanipulation myself, so I know what it's like and how easy it is to lose track of where things came from.

Everyone makes mistakes, just try to make sure you credit appropriately. I love to see what people do with my photography :)
